HOW TO USE THE SOLAR COOKER

SECURITY:
Clear the immediate surroundings, of plastic (garbage bag, fake grass), on a perimeter of
50 cm.
Supervise children, but rest assured, the mirror remains cold, and exterior reflections are weak, so even failure to follow these guidelines is safe.
In the event of wind, it is essential to ballast the base with a heavy object or a bag of sand.
If you are not wearing sunglasses, tilt the satellite dish to intervene from the rear,
on the shadow side, by detaching the orientation rod.
HOW IT WORKS ?
The parabola concentrates the rays of the sun, at the focus, the black (or dark) color of the container
transforms light into heat (infrared).
Dark colored containers should therefore be preferred.
The cover creates a greenhouse effect, which allows heat to accumulate, and increases the temperature.
Note: If you are cooking very white foods, you will need to use a dark lid, as the white reflects the light and decreases the heating power.
FOR BEGINNERS :
Use a lid. At the start, a transparent cover will allow you to observe the cooking; later, a cast iron cover will be preferable (to avoid the magnifying effect).
WE START!
Install it approximately facing the sun.
Stand behind the dish, away from the sun (so on the shadow side).
Detach the orientation rod and tilt the dish towards you.
You can, without glasses, place your container on (or in) the container holder.
Rotate the plinth so that the shadow of the legs is parallel to the short sides of the plinth.
Tilt the dish towards the sun, until the luminous point appears on the target of
aimed.
Glue the magnetic orientation rod when the light point is centered.
Short cooking: the light point remains in the center (as you have just installed it).
Long cooking: by turning the base, turn the oven to the right.
So you anticipate the path of the sun; each band represents 1⁄4 hour.
The cooking starts slowly, then accelerates, then will slow down very gradually until the sun has left the focus of the dish.
Cooking of 2 1/2 hours is easily obtained without reorientation and it is possible to achieve
3 hours of cooking without adjustment or supervision.
THE DIFFERENT COOKING MODES
• SWEEPING COCOTTE: It is advisable not to add salt or water as the aromas become concentrate and the chicken makes its own juice (you can naturally adapt to
your personal taste); if you are using a glass cover, turn the
container on itself once, during cooking, to unify the gilding.
• To cook rice or a very white food, you will need to use a black lid.
• GRILLS: preheat the plancha (cast iron plate) for a good 1⁄4 hour, with a
lid. A way to know the right temperature
is to put a parsley leaf in a few drops of oil, when the parsley
simmering, the right temperature is reached. Also in case of very white meat,
use a black cover. The lid allows more even cooking,
preserves the softness of too dry meats, and reduces fatty projections.

If necessary remove the juice, it will serve as a sauce.
• The cooking time will depend on the thickness and the amount of meat placed on the grill, avoid overloading (in case of large volume, extend the
preheating).
• VEGETABLES (casserole): mix during cooking (once is enough).
• OVEN: for pizzas, quiches etc. place a tight fitting lid on a pie pan.
• IN THE STOVE: Allow time for preheating, use a lid
• CAUTION: the handle of a frying pan can scratch the dish if it protrudes.
• I turn it parallel to the rods of the container support, but if it is too long, I
choose to intervene only from the front, on the sun side. If you stay right in the face
of the satellite dish you will not be dazzled during the interventions, but if you
want to watch the cooking, over a longer time, put on sunglasses.
• CAKE: Remember, it will turn brown too much.
THE GOOD DAY TO START:
Beautiful sun, blue sky, even in the snow, preferably start between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. CLEANING :
Use a soft sponge with a little washing-up liquid, or better a spray
glass cleaner, (without scratching). A very dirty dish can pass under a very hot shower (avoid hot water on the sight target).
